Robin Butter is a narrative-focused visual artist based in The Hague, Netherlands, whose vivid, imaginative community-centred photography weaves history, mythology and contemporary reality to invite audiences into exploratory visual journeys. She serves as core photography tutor at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), delivering orientation, foundation and analogue photography courses alongside public workshops and museum educational programmes over more than a decade.

Her artistic practice has earned sustained institutional support and industry recognition. From 2014 to 2025, she has secured multiple major cultural grants including Mondriaan Fonds, Cultuurfonds and Fonds BJP for collaborative documentary project Hague Bonfire, and received awards such as the Ydoc Bookapp Prize, alongside nominations for the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo, IWPA International Women’s Photography Award, Bloom Prize and Unseen Dummy Award. Her landmark photobook Dragonblood was published by Lecturis in 2023, widely covered by mainstream Dutch media including NRC, Volkskrant and Follow the Money.

Butter’s artworks have been exhibited globally across Europe, Asia and North America since 2013, covering solo, duo and group presentations at leading venues such as PhotoEspaña, Arles Cosmos Book Fair, Beijing Photobook Festival, Fotohof Salzburg and municipal galleries in The Hague commissioned by The Hague Municipal Archives.
